High school applicants must have completed their junior year. College students must be working towards a degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology or anything in that field. Interns must be able to guarantee at least three days a week. Although not necessary, experience is preferred.


  • May – September
  • Monday – Friday
  • 7am – 3pm

 Daily Tasks

  • Daily maintenance of our land based nursery system
  • Sieving juvenile oysters and clams
  • Preparing seed orders
  • Cleaning tanks
  • Counting oysters and clam seed volumetrically
  • Aid the algae specialist in the phycology lab 
  • Aid the hatchery technician in the larval room 

Rubber boots or any closed toe shoe is a must. The floors can be slippery and very muddy at times. Please wear appropriate clothing because mud is everywhere and it can stain. Interns are able to borrow waders and foul weather gear from the hatchery if needed.

This internship is on a volunteer basis, meaning it is unpaid and housing is not provided.
